Choa Chu Kang Public Library at Lot One represents Singapore\'s most innovative public library experience, serving as the nation\'s largest shopping mall library within the vibrant Lot One Shoppers\' Mall. Since its reopening in October 2021 after extensive renovations, this next-generation library combines traditional services with cutting-edge features including Singapore\'s first indoor garden in a public library, hydroponics showcase, and augmented reality learning trails, making it an essential destination for families, students, and lifelong learners in the northwest region.
The expanded library spans both the fourth and fifth floors, housing approximately 190,000 volumes including 74,000 children\'s books, 95,240 adult titles, 390 magazine titles, and 10 newspapers that cater to diverse interests and age groups. Level 4 serves adults, teens, and children aged 7-12 with comprehensive collections covering recreation, travel, IT, arts, home and garden, while Level 5 dedicates space to families and parenting resources plus collections for children aged 0-6. The library\'s sustainability theme integrates environmental education through interactive displays and QR-coded experiences.
Operating daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the fourth floor of Lot One Shoppers\' Mall, the library provides multilingual online catalogs, multimedia stations, self-service borrowing, and extended Study Zone access from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM including public holidays. The unique mall location allows visitors to seamlessly combine learning with shopping and dining experiences, while proximity to Choa Chu Kang MRT station ensures excellent accessibility for the over one million annual users. This revolutionary library demonstrates how knowledge institutions can evolve to meet contemporary community needs while fostering environmental consciousness.
Staff was so rude, many months ago the librarian scolded for using an electric outlet I’m not supposed to when in fact, it was a misunderstanding that their sign fell was not stick properly. I would like for that Indian lady who was so aggressive and rude to me apologise as well for her to have a bad record!!!! NLB please give me justice. I felt humiliated as well, I would give a zero star review if I could!

Small and few directional signs. Not easy to orient ourselves the first time. Searching for books was like a treasure hunt of its own. Except we couldn't find the books that were supposed to be at their rightful places. Two entrance points into the recently renovated, spacious library. One via the rooftop.

I am writing to express my concern regarding an experience I had at your library recently. I was asked by a librarian to leave Level 5 because I was not accompanied by a child. However, I did not see any clear signage stating that adults without children are not allowed in that area. I also noticed other adults present, which made the situation feel inconsistent and unfair.
I fully respect the need for safety and appropriate use of designated spaces, especially those intended for children. However, I believe that any such restrictions should be clearly communicated with visible signage, and enforced consistently.
I would appreciate clarification on the policy regarding adult access to Level 5, and whether the rules are applied uniformly. I hope the library can consider clearer communication in the future to avoid misunderstandings like this.

I would like to share an incident that occurred during my recent visit to the library on 16 May 2025 1445hours.
I was alone and had just sat down at Level 5 to read a library book when a librarian approached me. She asked if I was waiting for someone, and when I said no, she told me I had to go to Level 4 to read, as Level 5 was the children’s section. I was taken aback, as I was quietly reading in a public space and did not see any clear signage that adults were not allowed.
I explained to her that Level 4 was quite crowded and that I simply wanted a peaceful spot to read. However, she continued to ask me to leave, which disrupted the very peace I was seeking. I noticed afterward that there were several secondary school students walking around Level 5, which made me question why I was asked to leave while they were allowed to remain.
While I understand if there are policies in place regarding adult presence in children’s areas, I feel the approach and inconsistency in enforcement were disappointing. The interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and unfairly treated.
I hope the library can clarify this policy and ensure that it is communicated clearly and respectfully to all patrons.

Pleased with my visit here and how clean, modern and spacious the library is. Plenty of seating areas and even a level 5 kids area to entertain the kids. Great selection of books and many assortment of seats to accommodate many people. I also liked that borrowing a book via the NLB app was such a breeze!

Nice and cozy library that is located at L4 & L5 of the Lot One mall near the Chua Chu Kang mrt station. However, the comfortable sofa seats are almost always fully occupied. 😂 …

I've used this library way back in the 2009 ~ 2015 period. Came to visit for the first time since its renovation, and I am impressed. Although it does feel sad that my nostalgic memory here can't be felt anymore, their newly-renovated library is great. I'd recommend this library

Beautiful and peaceful place. It's really huge and offers different kinds of seating space to work & read in silence. The children's library on the last floor is a gem. An entire floor is dedicated to children offering a reading space, small play area and computer library. A must recommended especially to parents of little ones.

Library was just newly renovated in 2021 and now features many indoor plants and even a hydroponics display. Navigation is a little confusing but ample selection for children and teens. Many nice seating areas too. Great place to bring children to have a books day out, but prepare a carrier or bag for the piles of books everyone wants to borrow 😆👍

I think that the Choa Chu Kang Library is very spacious, especially when I walked in. Once you walk around the fiction shelves, you’ll notice that there’s this seating area of 6 chairs around this round table. That’s a good place to work on your computers, study, and read.
Once you see that, just walk towards the window and look left and right, you’ll notice there’s this long table connected to the wall, and multiple people can sit there. That’s a really nice place for reading, studying, and working on your computers. The view is also nice when you look out the window, depending on where you’re sitting though.
They have this specific Malay section of books, and there’s 3 small sections that are kind of curved in, and about 4-5 people could fit in there. Once you walk a bit farther, there’s this section with teen books, and you’ll have to go down a few steps, but it has a really nice section.
Once you’ve passed the teen section, you’ll see stairs going up. If you go up those stairs, you’ll see the children’s section. First you’ll see the family and parenting section; then to the right, you’ll see the children's books.
Overall, I think the Choa Chu Kang Library is nice and spacious, and has a good selection of different books. Nice area for sitting. A good place to read, study, and work on your computers.

Recently visited this library after several years of absence and was thoroughly impressed! The library was clean, silent, and calm, providing a peaceful atmosphere perfect for studying and learning. The modern and well-renovated facilities made it a joy to explore. What struck me most was the number of knowledge-seeking individuals who filled the space, all engaged in quiet contemplation or submerged in their books. The vast collection of books and resources was truly remarkable, adding that Reservation Lockers and Book Return have up-to-date touch- screen interfaces. Overall, I highly recommend as a haven for anyone seeking knowledge, inspiration, or simply a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
